Ever since I dropped my K6 Gixxer 1000 a couple of months ago, the fuel warning light comes on when the tank is full, then flashes and turns off when on reserve, so it's backwards to how it's supposed to work. Would it just be a wire that's come loose?

Well, I removed the fuel pump and couldn't see anything wrong, apart from the float arm stopper being bent which allowed the float to go higher than usual and past the sensor area. I'm not sure if this would make any difference to the fuel light, but it looks like it's been going past the sensor area for a while 'cause I can see the where it's been rubbing.
It was a good chance to clean the little bits of crud out of the tank anyway.
I guess I'll just put it back together now and hope that the float arm stopper was the problem, although I'm not feeling lucky about that!

She's back together now but I can't say whether I've fixed the problem or not. I put the nine litres back into the tank(the light had already flashed and turned off while riding it before), but of course the low fuel light won't come on with that amount of fuel in the tank!!!:damn: I'm going to go and syphon some back out now!

I haven't been for a ride yet, but after emptying and refilling the tank a couple of times, the fuel light seems to be working properly now. The only thing is that the reserve trip meter hasn't reset itself yet. I'll have to wait until I go for a ride to see if it's fixed for real or not.

I'm glad to report that I'm pretty sure it's fixed!!! I filled the tank up last night, the light didn't come on, and the reserve trip meter reset itself to -- when I got down the road a bit. It seems crazy to think that it was just because of a bent float stop, but as far as I know, that's what the problem was.

Thanks for the help.
